United Way in Waukesha County
Success Story
George is a 56-year-old white male who came to the Clinic complaining of stomach pain, disorientation and shortness of breath.  He was diagnosed with severe ascites (abdominal distension due to fluid build-up, usually caused by liver damage).  Clinic staff determined he had a history of alcohol abuse. George was sent to the Community Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for fluid drainage, and returned to the Clinic for counseling and education on liver disease and long-term effect

United Way in Waukesha County funds 71 programs of 33 partner agencies.  Each agency is responsible for submitting a year-end report for all United Way funded programs it oversees.  The year-end reports capture information in the following areas:

  • Program purpose
  • Population served
  • Program outcomes
  • Strategies used to achieve program outcomes
  • Success Story

Once the year-end reports are submitted, United Way staff and volunteers utilize the reports to make funding recommendations for the following year(s).
