Caregiver Support

The number of caregivers for older adults in our country is growing. In Wisconsin, there are more than 500,000 caregivers who provide about 558 million hours of service each year. The average age of a caregiver taking care of an aging adult is 47 years old. Children of aging parents need to make changes at work in order to accommodate caregiving responsibilities. Approiximately 10% of employed families change from full-time employment to part-time employment to be able to deal with caregiving responsibilities.

The Caregiver Connection was created to help caregivers self-identify themselves as the actual caregiver, promote awareness of the many resources and support options available, and to ensure needs of the caregiver are met.

Caregiver Support Partners: Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County (ADRC), Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Catholic Charities, Elmbrook Church, Humane Animal Welfare Society, Interfaith Senior Programs, Laureate Group, Lutheran Social Services, ProHealth Care Senior Health Center, Regency Senior Communities–Muskego, Southeastern Wisconsin Area Agency on Aging, and United Way in Waukesha County.
