A father and son from Brookfield , attended the Teen Anger class.  The teen had been expelled from school due to a threatening message on the internet.  The parents were very distraught and they knew their son had a great deal of anger.  The family had a pattern of yelling and screaming, even becoming violent in their effort to resolve differences.  (Lack of communication skills was one of the underlying causes of anger.)

Initially the father and son were reluctant to share but by the end of the first session both father and son started to respond in the group. There was a noticeable transition when the family started to recognize, that the absence of communication was a major factor in the unresolved anger.  They developed some excellent skills to effectively deal with the anger in a safe manner.  In this case the number one tool; to stay out of each others “face”, no physical touching, hitting, poking or pushing. The father said that the new skills were posted on the refrigerator as a constant reminder.  In the 6 month follow up the family stated “we are still using the skills we learned in the class.  We still have challenging days but the class was a very positive experience for our family.
