United Way of Wisconsin

United Way of Wisconsin is the statewide organization providing member support services to the more than 40 local and independent United Ways in Wisconsin. United Way of Wisconsin's mission is to promote the United Way system and the voluntary sector on a statewide basis, and support Wisconsin's local United Ways in their work to be the critical link that brings people and organizations together to build stronger, healthier communities. 

United Way in Waukesha County’s Executive Director, Jayne Thoma, serves on the United Way of Wisconsin board of directors. 

The United Way of Wisconsin provides a variety of services, including:  

  • Technical and consultative services such as board orientations, assistance with needs assessments, strategic planning, area wide relations, etc.
  • Support planning and implementation of 2-1-1, a statewide health and human services referral service.
  • Public policy monitoring
  • Provide statewide presence for government and statewide provider relations.
  • Networking and training events for staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct surveys and research for the purpose of sharing information on best practices and philanthropic trends.
  • Manage state set-aside funds that support the Emergency Food and Shelter Programs through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
  • Distribution of funds to local United Ways received from out of state sources.
